Insurance

We are not insurance agents and cannot give advice on insurance coverage.  But in general terms there are three types of insurance you will need to build and own a modular home.

Builder’s Risk Policy.  During the modular home construction process you may need to obtain builder’s risk insurance policy to protect you and your modular home while it is being built to your specifications.  This type of insurance policy is a standard in the construction industry and provides coverage against theft, vandalism, etc during construction.  If you are acting as your own GC then you will need to purchase this coverage.  If you have our sister company Saratoga Construction LLC act as your GC then they will provide this coverage.

Workers Compensation Policy – to obtain a building permit in NY State you will be required to submit proof of Workers Compensation coverage, in the event someone gets injured while working on your job site.  Again, if you have our sister company Saratoga Construction LLC act as your GC then they will provide this coverage.

Homeowner’s Policy.  Once your new modular home is completed, you will need a homeowner’s insurance policy to protect you, your modular home, and your personal property.  Some insurance companies may be able to provide you with a homeowner’s insurance policy that will include a rider so that you may not need to purchase a separate builder’s risk policy.

You should speak to your current homeowner’s insurance agent – or ask us for a referral.  It is important to get all insurance information in writing to be certain that you have the adequate insurance for your modular home construction project.
